Board votes at a glance: safety plans, site coordinators and surplus property approved

The Central Unified School District Board of Trustees on Feb. 25 approved a package of district actions that included districtwide comprehensive school safety plans, a job description for student and family services site coordinators funded by a state community schools grant, and the sale and disposal of surplus district property.

Several items drew discussion before votes. The board approved comprehensive school safety plans over one trustee’s objections, and later approved the job description for student and family services site coordinators after extended debate about title, sustainability and bargaining-unit implications. The sale and disposal of surplus and obsolete district property passed unanimously.

The district will bring several items back for action or additional information at a future board meeting (for example, certificate of participation financing for the Garza VAPA building was presented for information and scheduled for a future action item).
