Henry County commissioners approve routine claims, equipment purchase, contracts and appointments

Henry County commissioners at their Feb. 26 meeting approved routine minutes and financial items, authorized equipment purchases and voted on several contracts and appointments.
The board approved the minutes of its prior meeting and motions to approve claims and payroll; those routine votes all carried 3-0. Commissioners also approved the monthly IT and measures reports by unanimous vote.
On equipment, commissioners approved the purchase of a patch truck and separately approved purchase of the truck's upfit. The highway/maintenance presenter recommended ordering a Dodge 5500 chassis to match previously purchased vehicles; the stainless-steel bed upfit cited a roughly $2,500 premium over a steel bed. Both motions carried 3-0.
The board approved a task order supplement (Task Order No. 2) to the county's prime agreement with SJCA to conduct PACER rating work used to qualify for Community Crossings funding; the field work for the rating was noted as expected to be completed by Nov. 1. That motion carried 3-0.
A Piney quote for repair work on two chiller compressor circuits totaling $1,890 was approved 3-0 after staff recommended the repairs, which included replacing motor protectors and fuses.
Commissioners accepted a uniform conflict-of-interest disclosure from Chad Malecote that disclosed his employer has done and could continue to do business with Henry County; the board recorded acceptance by voice vote, 3-0. A separate contract from a group described as the Community of Rural Affairs was not presented by a representative and the board voted to table that contract, 3-0.
The board considered commissary-fund reimbursement claims from the sheriff's office; one claim had been withdrawn and the other was tabled for further review. The motion to table carried 2-1.
Appointments approved included reappointing Daryl Craft to the Spiceland Public Library Board and appointing Joe Copeland as the county council's nominee to the Henry County Economic Development Commission; both appointments carried 3-0.
An intergovernmental agreement for police protection in 2025 between the county sheriff's office and the town of Dunwreath was approved 3-0. The board also approved a motion to authorize replacement or repair work on a coupling discovered during testing at the transition center contingent on staff verification that the work is needed; that motion carried 3-0.
