Commission approves $7,850 cloud-based HVAC control upgrade for event center

Linda Johnson, director of the event center and fairgrounds, asked commissioners to approve an upgrade to the building’s HVAC control system. Mike Hyland of Trane described the project as a front-end controller upgrade that will make the system cloud-based and allow authorized staff and vendors to monitor and adjust temperatures remotely.
Hyland said automatic software updates are included and that the upgrade can reduce truck calls because technicians can often diagnose or adjust the system remotely. He said staff can assign credentials to multiple users and limit permissions so renters cannot change settings beyond permitted ranges.
Commissioner motioned to approve the proposal from Trane for the HVAC software update and training in the amount of $7,850 to be charged to County Building account 255-000-5487. The motion passed by show of hands (recorded as five in favor). Hyland estimated installation within 30 to 60 days; staff said they would also check and replace an identified sensor in the activity center.
