Montgomery Museum awarded Virginia 250 preservation grant; board congratulated museum leaders

Robert (Bob) Miller, speaking during public address at the Jan. 27 meeting, said the Montgomery Museum has been awarded more than $200,000 from the Virginia 250 preservation fund.
Miller said the grant — part of a larger $20 million statewide program that received $95 million in requests this round — will support exhibit work and the construction of ADA accessibility to the museum’s largest exhibit space, which is currently accessed by a long flight of stairs. He said the board of the museum will present more details at the board’s Feb. 10 meeting and that museum director Sherry Wyatt will appear to provide additional information.
Miller thanked the county and staff, including County Administrator Angie Hill, and said the museum pledges to promote Montgomery County’s history during the state’s semiquincentennial celebration.
Ending: County staff said the board previously gave consensus for a matching appropriation; the museum’s request and the related appropriation will be on an upcoming meeting agenda for formal action.
