Clean Hydrogen Task Force approves interim progress report required by HCR 64

Blake Canfield, executive counsel for the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (LDNR), and Amanda McClinton, assistant secretary for the Office of Energy at LDNR, presented an interim progress report to the Clean Hydrogen Task Force on Feb. 11 that summarizes the Task Force’s first four meetings and includes one recommendation to revise Louisiana’s Natural Resources and Energy Act to address hydrogen produced by electrolysis.
Ms. McClinton said the report offers a high‑level review of topics discussed at Task Force meetings and a short list of subjects for further discussion; she also said LDNR will circulate a member survey to help plan future meeting agendas and coordinate presenters. Blake Canfield and McClinton noted the report must be delivered before March 1, per the Task Force’s legislative directive in House Concurrent Resolution 64.
Representative Tanner Orgeron called for a motion to accept the report; Mr. Javier moved and Mr. Cormier seconded. The chair asked for public comment and none was offered. The Task Force then voted in favor; the meeting record shows an affirmative voice vote (“Aye”) with no recorded opposition and no roll‑call tally. Task Force members asked LDNR staff to transmit the accepted report to the governor and the relevant House and Senate natural resources committees.
