District begins multi-year report-card revisions for grades 1–8 to align with curriculum work

The Nashoba Regional School District is reviewing and revising elementary and middle-school report cards for grades 1–8 to better align academic reporting with recently adopted curriculum materials and the district’s portrait of graduate competencies, Assistant Superintendent Laura Friend told the school committee on Feb. 26.
“We have some report card revision work underway in grades 1 through 8, and this work really complements the work we've been engaged in with all of our curriculum work,” Friend said. A district working group made up of representatives across schools is reviewing reporting standards, behavior and social work habits sections and planning a front-facing user guide for families.
Friend said staff are comparing neighboring districts’ report cards to help streamline content so that report cards “tell a story of student progress over time” without being overly long. Immediate next steps include forming a kindergarten working group, sharing draft versions with school councils for feedback, and developing guidance materials for families.
The district plans to implement revised report cards in the fall of 2025, pending feedback from school councils and the working groups.
