County approves final contracts for three bridges and authorizes advertising for three more

Clay County commissioners approved final contract payments Tuesday for three completed bridge replacement projects and authorized advertisement of three more bridge replacements to be bid as a single contract with a March 25 letting date.

Justin, representing the Clay County Highway Department, presented three final contract vouchers for work completed by Hule Excavating LLC: SAP 14598078 in the final amount of $179,014.00; SAP 14610034 in the final amount cited in the staff report; and SAP 14637004 in the final amount of $296,551.00. Commissioners moved and approved the three final contract vouchers individually by voice vote.

Highway staff also requested permission to advertise a package of three additional bridge replacements to be included in one contract: a project on County Road 51 south of Comstock (SAP 14590879 as cited by staff), a project in Goose Prairie Township (SAP 14599105), and a project in Elkton Township south of Downer (SAP 145909114 as cited by staff). The county said townships affected had approved participation and the department proposed a letting date of March 25. Commissioners approved advertising and the March 25 letting date; staff said construction would likely occur in summer and the department centers completion dates to avoid harvest operations where relevant.

The board took individual motions to approve each final voucher and to advertise the three upcoming bridge replacements. Each motion passed by voice vote.
