Park board gets updates on skate park construction, electrical upgrade and proposed dog-park site

Staff said the skate-park contractor (a traveling builder) recommended small on-site adjustments; staff accepted some changes after a construction meeting and described the contractor as an experienced foreman named Bart. Staff said concrete sidewalks and landscaping north of the silt fence will be finished and the area made ready for future development.
Park staff also reported the electrical upgrade is complete and that crews had installed a new box and located wiring; the IT lead told staff the building will service public Wi‑Fi across Eagle Park (the IT lead cited 84 acres as the service area). Staff said the site will also house a server room as part of future public‑Wi‑Fi infrastructure.
Board members raised a separate concern about a proposed dog-park site near the park’s large open area, which staff said has been earmarked for fireworks and is currently used by the YMCA for larger youth soccer play. Staff said the dog-park location is still under review and that they are evaluating impacts on nearby residences, on children using adjacent playground space, and on scheduled field uses. Staff reiterated that moving the fireworks site or relocating uses requires permitting and coordination.
The board briefly discussed an amphitheater concept; staff described the amphitheater as still at the conceptual stage with dates and specifics not finalized.
