Wausau Board of Public Works approves multiple 2025 contracts, schedules closed session on prequalification statements

The Wausau Board of Public Works on Feb. 25 approved a series of contract awards, license approvals and a contract extension for 2025 construction and maintenance work, and voted to go into closed session to consider contractor prequalification statements.

Board members voted to accept the low bid for the 2025 concrete pavement repair project, provisionally award a 2025 landscape contract contingent on clerical verification of the bid tabulation, extend a contractor deadline for a parking ramp coating project, renew a 2025 materials-testing agreement and approve two contractor licenses submitted by Integrated Construction Solutions LLC.

The votes came after staff presented bid tabulations and recommendations. For the concrete pavement repair project, staff recommended CPR Incorporated as the low bidder at $599,484.50; the board approved that recommendation. For the landscape project, staff recommended awarding the work to Revi subject to verification of the tabulation; the board approved that contingent award. The board also approved a request to extend the deadline for Advanced Coating Solutions Wisconsin on the 2024 Jefferson parking ramp, stairwell and coating project to March 20, citing an insurance-review delay that pushed the contractor’s start date. The board approved renewing the city’s materials-testing agreement with Quest for 2025 and approved Portland cement concrete and bituminous concrete paving licenses for Integrated Construction Solutions LLC.

The board did not award the 2025 street reconstruction Project A (Randolph Street and Cherry Street) at the meeting. Staff reported four bids with Haas and Sons the low bidder at $5,735,489.74 and said staff would return next week with a recommendation based on a breakout of bid items.

Before adjourning the open session, the board voted to convene in closed session under Wis. Stat. §19.85(1)(d) to consider and deliberate prequalification statements for 2025 Street Reconstruction Project B (Fulton Street, First River Drive and Second Street) and the 2025 pavement marking project.
