The Onalaska Planning Commission unanimously approved a certified survey map on Feb. 25 to subdivide a parcel at 2614 Midwest Drive (Tax Parcel 18-4769-3) into two lots and to upgrade the private drive serving the Holiday Inn Express to a public right of way with a cul‑de‑sac.
Planner Katie Aspenson said the proposed Lot 105 and Lot 106 meet the UDC minimum lot-dimension standards for the Regional Business (B‑3) district. The CSM also calls for bringing the private drive up to city standards and constructing a cul‑de‑sac bulb at the end (the existing layout currently functions as a Y). City staff prepared 14 conditions of approval.
Commissioner Jared Holter moved to approve the CSM; Mike Milke seconded. Commissioners discussed that the bulk of the infrastructure already exists and that converting the drive to public will add another cul‑de‑sac for municipal winter maintenance. The motion passed unanimously. Following approval, the city will assume responsibility for the right of way once the infrastructure is constructed to city standards and accepted.
