Cincinnati Board appoints Michael Guston as district treasurer, approves contract offer

Board member Wilmer Crossett read the resolution presenting Guston and the board held a public roll-call vote after brief remarks of appreciation for outgoing Treasurer Jennifer Wagner and for those who participated in the search and interview process. The resolution states the board retained the Ohio School Boards Association to assist with the search and that finalists met with district employees and stakeholders.
The vote followed several board members’ public thanks to staff and union stakeholders who participated in screening and interviews. Jennifer Wagner, the district’s current treasurer, said she was “very thrilled” and praised Guston’s record of working with her for 10 years. Board members also thanked the OSBA representative who assisted with the search process.
The board’s action directs the superintendent to present Guston’s employment contract to the board for approval at the earliest opportunity. The resolution notes Guston’s appointment is effective Sept. 1, 2025; the board did not publish contract terms during the Feb. 24 meeting.
