County debuts ‘Fall in Love with BOCO’ video, showcases student art winners

Botetourt County staff presented a new “Fall in Love with BOCO” initiative and premiered a music video created with local performers and students, then recognized student winners of a countywide art contest.
The presentation, led by Tiffany Bradbury, included a video collaboration with the Parkway Players featuring a song written by David Austin and performed by local students. Bradbury said the video is the first in a planned series of community-focused pieces highlighting different towns and county assets, including agriculture and local schools.
The initiative also included an art contest for middle- and high-school students aimed at combining civic engagement with an arts lesson. Bradbury said 21 entries were submitted and 17 winners were chosen for inclusion in the county’s annual report. Winners named during the meeting included Best in Show winner Kaylee Berry and school-level winners from James River High School, Lord Botetourt High School and Central Academy. Art teacher Courtney May and county staff assisted with the contest and prize distribution.
Bradbury and board members said some winning pieces may be displayed publicly and considered for the Botetourt County Fair T-shirt design. Staff said the county will involve students in future videos and other creative outreach efforts.
The presentation was informational; no action was required or taken by the board.
