Bassmaster event and downtown festivals draw visitors, officials say

Putnam County commissioners said recent weekend events — including a Bassmaster tournament, the Azalea Festival and Soul Food Festival — brought a surge of visitors to Palatka and raised the county’s profile nationally.

Commissioner Pelasier said he helped park fishermen during the first two days of the Bassmaster event and heard repeated praise about the county’s hospitality. “That’s such a positive plus for our county,” Pelasier said. He added that televised coverage keeps the county visible for months afterward.
