Board approves RFP for 10-year enrollment study after correcting advertisement dates

The Boyertown Area School District Board of Directors voted to approve a request for proposals (RFP) for a 10-year demographic growth and enrollment study intended to inform capacity planning and the district’s investigation of full-day kindergarten. Board members raised an error in the RFP’s advertisement language that listed a February 28 receiving date; staff said they will correct that date and estimated the revised receiving date to be March 28, dependent on newspaper advertising availability.
During discussion, board member Miss Nyman requested a wording change on page 8 from "estimated time length necessary to complete" to "expected date of completion and submission to the owner," which the administration said had already been updated. The administration said the district last conducted a full enrollment study 13 years ago and that the RFP will help project enrollment across the next decade and guide facility and program planning.
The administration said the exact RFP calendar will depend on the newspaper’s advertisement schedule; staff estimated about three weeks of response time from advertisement and pledged to notify the board once advertising dates are confirmed. The change from February 28 to a provisional March 28 date was proposed during the meeting and will be finalized after staff confirms publication timing with the newspaper.
The motion to approve the RFP carried on a roll-call vote with the following board members recorded as voting yes: Miss Nyman; Mr. Brad Updegrove; Mr. Roger Updegrove; Mr. Zawada; Mr. Brophy; Miss Dieruff; Mrs. Kratz; and Mr. Pinarello. The motion had no named mover or seconder reported in the transcript.
