Hot Springs seeks $96,687.50 change order for Whittington Avenue improvements

The City of Hot Springs presented a requested change order to the Gosley Construction Co. Inc. contract for Whittington Avenue improvements, adding $96,687.50 to align final quantities with available funding.
Assistant City Engineer Mike Hill told the Board the Whittington Avenue project (awarded by Resolution 10090 on Oct. 4, 2022) is funded by a FLAP grant and city funds and is intended to improve accessibility to Hot Springs National Park for the Whittington Valley neighborhood. Planned improvements include sidewalks, ADA ramps, crosswalks, rain gardens, bicycle lanes, a multiuse trail and intersection improvements.
Hill said work nearing completion produced a clearer picture of remaining quantities; the change order does not add new elements but increases quantities. The change order would add $96,687.50, bringing the contract total to $845,966. The resolution (R-25-42) is scheduled for formal action at the board’s March 4 meeting.
