RFID upgrade moves forward; site visit scheduled March 5

Library staff updated trustees on the planned RFID (radio-frequency identification) upgrade with FE Technologies.
Jennifer and staff member Sam told the board that the procurement and mapping work has required more effort than anticipated but is roughly three-quarters complete. Jennifer said they have a site visit scheduled for March 5 and expect equipment procurement soon after that visit.
"We're about 3 fourths of the way done with the paperwork and we'll get that to them. We have a site visit on March 5, so hopefully soon after that we can get the equipment in," Jennifer said. Staff also reported the library’s current RFID system remains functional during the transition.
Board members expressed appreciation that planners are moving cautiously through the mapping and site-preparation steps and thanked staff for managing the workload associated with the upgrade.
