St. Marys swears in new police officer; introductory remarks and credentials noted

The St. Marys City Council and police department formally welcomed a new police officer and administered the oath of office during the meeting.

A city representative introduced the recruit as "Cole" and recounted that he was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin; lived in Bluffton, Ohio; graduated from St. Marys Memorial High School in 2022; and has attended Glen Oaks Community College. The speaker said the recruit was attending Wright State University Lake Campus Police Academy and was set to graduate from the academy on April 9; the recruit had begun ride-alongs with the department and the meeting noted that the new officer’s first day on patrol was that same day.

The recruit took the statutory oath to support the federal and state constitutions and to faithfully and impartially discharge the duties of a St. Marys police officer. The ceremony was followed by a brief presentation and acceptance by the mayor’s office and the police department.
