Council receives Age & Disability Friendly assessment; group to draft three‑year action plan

The Town Council unanimously received an Age & Disability Friendly assessment prepared with community input and with the Marin Aging and Disability Institute as fiscal sponsor.
Sarah Robinson, chair of the local Age & Disability Friendly Initiative, thanked the town and noted that roughly 500 residents participated in the survey and focus groups that informed the assessment. Robinson said the next step will be community workshops and development of a three‑year local action plan, which the initiative hopes to present to the council in May. The initiative and partner Maddie (Marin Aging and Disability Institute) will align recommended actions with the town’s general-plan update and staff planning cycles.
Council members praised the report’s detail and the staff work to compile it. Several council members flagged two trends noted in the assessment — a rise in home‑modification needs for accessibility and lower levels of resident preparedness for emergencies — and urged staff to integrate those findings into permitting and outreach processes.
