Tyler Graff, superintendent of the Ross Valley School District, addressed the Town Council during open time to brief residents on a possible revision to the district’s parcel tax that the school board may place on a May special election ballot.
Graff said the proposed change would move the tax from a flat per‑parcel charge to a per‑square‑foot formula to make payments more equitable among homeowners while preserving a senior opt‑out and limiting the term to nine years. “These revisions will generate up to $3,000,000 that will help us raise salaries for our teachers,” Graff said, adding that the current parcel tax funds 47 teachers and that Ross Valley currently has the lowest per‑pupil revenue in Marin County.
Graff warned that, if voters do not approve the measure, the district would likely need to cut elective programs, counseling support and teacher‑leadership stipends and might be unable to increase the salary schedule for the 2025–26 school year. He invited residents to attend a Ross Valley School District board meeting and to contact him for more information.
