Private donor to fund $185,000 evacuation study for Washoe County; residents urge visitor inclusion and slow growth pending results

Washoe County commissioners will consider accepting a private $185,000 grant to fund a countywide evacuation study, County Manager Eric Brown said during a presentation to the Incline Village–Crystal Bay Citizens Advisory Board. The county expects the study to include traffic-capacity analysis and visitor counts and to take roughly nine months to complete.

The study matters because residents and advisory-board members told the county repeatedly that evacuation planning for Incline Village and Crystal Bay must account for day visitors and event crowds, and some urged pausing proposals that would add density until the study is done.

Commissioner Alexis Hill told the board the county will seek formal acceptance of the private donation at the Board of County Commissioners meeting the following day. “We will be accepting a donation from a community member, this, at our board meeting on Tuesday tomorrow for an evacuation study throughout all of Washoe County, including in Cline Village and Crystal Bay,” Hill said.…
