Summary

The Revere Zoning Board of Appeals continued a variance request from Jamie Rano to allow a detached accessory structure (a 20‑by‑20 pergola) at 29 Carlton Street until March 26 so the applicant can provide a letter from an opposing abutter and secure any required building‑department approvals.
Application A2502 seeks relief from rules that detached accessory structures may not occupy more than 10% of the rear yard and must be located outside required side yards and at least two feet from the rear lot line. Jamie Rano told the board she spoke with the abutter who had opposed the project at a prior hearing and that the neighbor said she would be "okay" provided no further work was done; the board said it had not yet received written confirmation.
Chairman Tucker advised Rano that even with an abutter letter she must obtain building‑department approval and that the inspector may require a structural engineer because the pergola had been built without a permit. The board voted to continue the hearing until March 26 to allow submission of the abutter's letter and corrected documentation.
