Kane County Committee of the Whole: no quorum, closed-session minutes deferred; resident urges fiscal restraint

The Kane County Committee of the Whole opened without a quorum in the room and deferred action on releasing closed-session minutes and any executive session until a future meeting, the chair said at roll call.

During the public-comment portion, Brian Anderson of Sugar Grove identified himself and made two points. Addressing board members, Anderson said he had been interrupted at recent outreach events and told one committee member: "it's your job to listen to We The People." He also argued for fiscal restraint, saying, "We should have a balanced budget. We shouldn't be spending money," and suggested the county consider a capital plan freeze and other cost-saving measures.

Committee business: Because a quorum was not present in the room, the committee did not approve minutes or proceed to executive session; the chair said release of closed-session minutes would be deferred to the next meeting when a quorum is available.

Adjournment: At the end of the meeting a motion to adjourn was made by Roth; no roll-call vote was recorded on the transcript and the meeting adjourned by consensus on that motion.

Ending: The building management capital presentation was given during the meeting and will be returned to later in the budget process; the committee expects to review capital materials in administration and finance committees before full board adoption.
