The Miami Lakes Senior Committee voted to support a pilot revival of Main Street Live for the two upcoming events (February and March) and to reassess after those events whether the Cultural Affairs Committee (CAC) will assume ongoing organization.
Committee members discussed funding sources, seed money needs, sponsorship and the role of the town and economic development partners. Several members emphasized that sponsors and the Economic Development Committee expressed willingness to support marketing and outreach; the committee noted that seed funding for vendor deposits, stage and sound can be required before sponsorship funds are secured.
The motion specifies the committee will support and facilitate the upcoming sponsored events that already have funding commitments; it does not commit the committee to a multi-month budget until after the pilot events have been evaluated. The motion passed by voice vote with recorded support from a majority of committee members (motion carried by voice vote; transcript recorded a majority in favor). Staff were asked to present a short post-event report after March showing attendance, costs, sponsor contributions and next-step recommendations.
