Pearson, a high school geography teacher who led the trip, told trustees the students studied assigned countries, wrote resolutions and carried out simulated council work over an intensive weekend. "It's a $17,000 program that the NSA pays for," Pearson said, describing related opportunities such as StarTalk and summer language programs that helped prepare students.
