Facilities Committee reviews draft 2026 Capital Improvement Plan and bond project progress

The Facilities Committee reviewed a draft of the 2026 Capital Improvement Plan at its Feb. 26 meeting and heard staff updates on work funded by the 2024 bond.

Mister McManus, who presented the CIP draft, told the committee the document before members listed a 2026 draft amount described in the meeting as roughly $22 million, while the five‑year plan was described as approximately $100 million. "I know you have in front of you a document that says, the the draft, 2026, capital improvement plan in the amount of $22,000,001.00 ... And as you know, once we met with the 2 by twos and the 1 on ones, throughout this process, we've been meeting with all the principals as well. So this is somewhat of a fluid document until we get to the actual final number," he said. McManus said staff had clarified several uncertain line items since publication and would continue updating figures before presenting a final CIP.

Committee members asked about specific projects. When a member asked about stadium lights at Piedmont High, staff said they had asked people to inspect the lights and would report back when they had a final answer. On Forest Hills projects, Miss Emel said stadium fields hosted their first baseball and softball games the night before the meeting and that finish work, millwork installation and tiling were underway now that air systems were conditioned. "So lots of forward progress, tiling, and just that finish work is starting in both of those schools," she said. Staff also said design work for premium projects at Forest Hills Stadium would be presented in the near term.

After discussion, the committee voted 4‑0 to forward the CIP draft to the full board for approval and directed staff to continue refining project costs and designs ahead of the next meeting.
