Union County Public Schools staff told the Facilities Committee Feb. 26 that New Atlantic scored highest in the district's RFQ and interview process and recommended the firm for preconstruction services at East Union Middle School.
Miss Emel summarized the RFQ process and scoring, saying the district received 10 submissions and interviewed the four highest‑scoring teams. "Out of those interviews and scoring, the firm with the highest score was New Atlantic," she said. Staff described efforts to include a broad interview panel, including principals from the affected schools and personnel with relevant building experience.
The committee asked for a motion to send the recommendation to the full board for approval. A committee member moved to send the item to the full board, another seconded, and the committee voted 4‑0 to forward the recommendation. No contract was awarded at the committee meeting; staff said the action was to seek full‑board approval for contracting preconstruction services with New Atlantic.
