The Union County Public Schools Finance Committee voted Feb. 25 to send state and federal budget amendments and transfers to the full board for approval.
Shauna, finance staff, told the committee the state amendments primarily cover summer camp funds and state performance bonuses for teachers and principals tied to reading, math and school performance. “Those those are the state funded bonuses that they provide. We get a list. It's all based on their performance,” Shauna said.
On federal funds, Shauna said the district is moving to grant-year budgeting and that many federal allocations pay salaries. That shift, she said, explains reductions in some categories for supplies and materials. “Most of our federal funds just like most of our state funds are used to pay salaries,” she said.
After brief questions from committee members, the committee voted by voice to forward the budget amendments and transfers to the full board.
The amendments and transfers were provided in the meeting packet for review.
