The Law and Ordinance Committee on Feb. 21 unanimously recommended that the full council adopt legislation to correct a recorded street name in the Somerset Reserve subdivision, changing an east–west section of Goldenrod to Pinecrest Drive.
The change was requested after staff discovered the intended renaming did not transfer correctly when the subdivision was recorded in the auditor’s office. Committee members were told the map is labeled “Somerset Reserve Plan Development Phase 1” (sheet 5 of 7) and that the highlighted section—the east–west portion of Goldenrod from the cul-de-sac west to the termination point—should be Pinecrest Drive.
Mr. Titterington presented the item, saying the recording omission is not merely a clerical mark and that ordinance-level legislation is needed to make the change. Staff reported the correction affects 11 lots in the development; none of the lots have been built on, so there are no current addresses to update with the U.S. Postal Service. The committee was not asked to approve emergency legislation.
Members asked clarifying questions about the map and the exact segment to be renamed; Mr. Phillips confirmed the map title and the location of the parcel highlighted in red. The committee voted unanimously to move the renaming ordinance forward to the full council for final action.
