Warrick County board hears legislative update as lawmakers move dozens of education bills

"Approximately 117 proposed bills died in committee or were not called for a vote that we are now tracking 64 bills affecting public education," the board member said, and noted that number was down from 184 tracked at the start of the session. The board member identified state and house measures by reference, including "State Bill 1, House Bill 1001, and State Bill 518," as measures the district is monitoring for potential effects on funding for students, operations and curriculum support.
The board urged residents who spoke earlier in the meeting to contact state legislators and said grassroots advocacy matters. The General Assembly recessed for the week and the session was scheduled to resume Monday, March 3.
