Construction committee lists HVAC, roofing and site projects across Warrick County schools

The board’s construction committee reported multiple ongoing and upcoming projects including new chillers at Castle High and Boonville Middle, auxiliary gym HVAC replacement at Tecumseh High School, classroom additions and renovations at several schools, and bus procurement underway.
Mr. Armstrong, reporting for the newly revised construction, technology, maintenance and transportation committee, summarized active and planned facility projects at the Feb. 24 board meeting.
Projects under way or near completion include Tecumseh High School softball backstop, new chillers being installed at Castle High School and Boonville High School, construction of a Castle High softball hitting facility and rooftop-unit work at Newberg Elementary School expected to finish this spring. Transportation reported new vehicle purchases and a forthcoming bus bid, and the Pathways and Career Center civil construction building had site work underway.
Planned or mobilizing projects listed by the committee included HVAC replacement in the Tecumseh High auxiliary gym, VAV and HVAC work for Castle North Middle School cafeteria and classrooms, intercom installations at Castle High and Boonville High, contact-sensor installations at Booneville Middle and Castle High, seal coating of the Newberg Elementary track and several building additions and renovations (Wharick Education Center renovation, John H. Castle classroom additions, Castle High show choir and drama renovations). The committee said many smaller paving, painting and carpeting projects will follow bid release.
Why it matters: The construction and maintenance work affects building conditions, operations and scheduling across the district. The committee said many projects are in bidding or mobilization phases and will appear before the board as contracting actions in the coming months.
The committee expects a construction meeting on March 18 and said bids for buses and other contract work will be issued soon.
