Board approves donations, staff hires and personnel changes for Warrick County schools

The Warrick County School Corporation board on Feb. 24 approved donations totaling $11,800 in cash and in-kind value and a slate of personnel actions including hires, a termination and several resignations and retirements.

Donations approved: Castle North Middle School PTO offered $3,500 to fund a mural in the gym; Black Equipment pledged the use of a lift valued at $1,000 for the mural work; and Ascension Saint Vincent Evansville donated $7,300 to the Work Pathways and Career Center for health-science certification costs. The board approved the donations on a roll call vote.

Human Resources director Doctor Doug Gresham presented multiple personnel items. The board approved a list of noncertified hires (including temporary and cafeteria positions) and other employment actions by voice or roll call. A termination was recorded for Robert Holben, program assistant at Castle High School, effective Feb. 13, 2025; the termination motion passed on roll call. The board also accepted several resignations and set retirement effective dates for two employees: Kim McLemore, cafeteria manager at Booneville Middle School (retirement effective May 22, 2025), and Dennis Macklemore, Class D maintenance at Castle High School (retirement effective March 4, 2025).

Why it matters: Donations support specific school projects and student certification programs; personnel actions affect school operations and program delivery. The board voted to accept these routine district transactions during its regular meeting.
