The proposal, presented by Shanae Rao, manager of food and nutrition, raised elementary, middle and high school lunches by 30 cents and breakfast prices by 15 cents for elementary and high school students. "We're looking at a daily increase for elementary breakfast and high breakfast of 15¢ a day and a 30¢ increase for elementary, middle, and high school lunches," Rao told the board.
Doctor Redmond recommended the board approve the prices as presented, and the motion passed on a roll call vote. The board recorded ayes from Miss Glover, Mister Frans, Mister Skinner, Mister Baker, Mister Mosby, Miss Wilhelmus and one member recorded as "I vote aye." Board discussion praised the food-service staff for maintaining quality and sourcing local food where possible despite rising costs.
