Commissioners court approves proclamations, contracts and routine county actions; child-welfare contract set for 2025–2032

The Henderson County Commissioners Court voted unanimously on several routine and substantive items during its regular session.

Key votes made by the court included approval of minutes from the Feb. 18, 2025 meeting; a proclamation recognizing March 2025 as Texas Independence observance; a resolution calling for early preparations for the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Declaration of Independence; filing of the 2024 racial-profiling report from the Precinct 3 constable for filing purposes only; approval of a child welfare services contract renewal with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services covering 10/01/2025–09/30/2032; a personnel pay-grade increase for a Road & Bridge Precinct 4 employee; authorization to pay fiscal-year 2025 bills; approval of a replat in Brown’s Landing; and authorization to advertise a request for qualifications for architectural services for the Elections Administration building and the drive-through building.

- Approval of Henderson County’s Child Welfare Services contract with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services for the period 10/01/2025–09/30/2032, with the county judge authorized to sign. County staff stated the renewal provides Title IV-E reimbursements for legal expenditures, attorney training and foster-care maintenance and is a seven-year renewal.

- Move Road & Bridge Precinct 4 employee RB402 from pay grade 210, step 8 to pay grade 260, step 5. Motion made by Commissioner Richardson; seconded by Commissioner McCam; outcome: passed unanimously. The commissioner explained the move reflects a reclassification to Operator 2 and that budgeted savings will cover the pay increase.

- Approval of fiscal-year 2025 bills in the amount of $430,194.20. Motion made by Commissioner Richardson; seconded by Commissioner Spivey; outcome: passed unanimously.

- Approval of replat: Lots 37 and 38, Block A of Brown’s Landing Phase 2, creating Lot 37A (for filing purposes only). Motion made by Commissioner Richardson; seconded by Commissioner Tully; outcome: passed unanimously.

- Approval to advertise an RFQ (request for qualifications) for architectural services for the Elections Administration Building and the drive-through building; advertisement and opening schedule shared by county staff. Motion made by Commissioner Richardson; seconded by Commissioner Tooley; outcome: passed unanimously.

- Adjournment. Motion made by Commissioner Toole; seconded by Commissioner McCam; outcome: passed unanimously.
