Board signs off on personnel actions, student-discipline ruling and depository update; cleaning-services bid process begins

The Valley View CUSD 365U Board of Education on Feb. 24 approved personnel and discipline items and updated routine financial authorizations while receiving reports on ongoing procurements and legal services.
The board approved the consolidated action report covering certified, classified and administrative personnel by roll call. The board also approved Resolution 2,525, described in the meeting as authorizing the dismissal of educational support personnel for reasons other than reduction in force. Separately, the board approved a student-discipline due-process case identified in the agenda as Student Discipline Due Process Case A.
The administration presented a resolution (25-24) to establish an updated list of approved depositories, noting that Illinois School Code requires the board to designate depositories for district funds and that the district’s list had not been updated since February 2009. The board approved the resolution by roll call.
Administration also provided information on other operational items. Facilities staff presented that the district is in the final year of a cleaning-services contract with GSF Cleaning Company (ending 06/05/2025) and has solicited bids for a new three-year contract with two one-year extensions. A mandatory pre-bid meeting on Feb. 20 was attended by three bidders; bids are due March 11. The administration said the cleaning contract is one of the district’s largest outside contracts and estimated it is worth about $4.7 million over the contract term.
The board received informational reports that legal services for special education (Robins Schwartz) will be brought back for approval at the March 10 meeting and that a new itinerant, grant-funded community-based speech-language pathologist job description will be presented for action at the March meeting.
