Belton ISD holds public hearing on 2023–24 Texas Academic Performance Report

Belton ISD held a public hearing in February 2025 on the district's 2023–24 Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR). Gabby Nino, assistant superintendent for teaching and learning, summarized the TAPR contents and noted how the document is segmented for public review.

"The purpose of the annual taper report is to review and hold a public hearing over the contents of the 2023–24 Texas academic performance report," Nino told the board. She outlined the report's sections: district and campus summaries, financial standard reports (based on 2022–23 financial data), accreditation status, campus improvement plans, violent or criminal incident reports (none were reported this year) and student performance including postsecondary indicators and progress on House Bill 3 goals.

Board members asked where the public could access the full report and what items a parent or taxpayer should examine. Nino said the comprehensive report is linked on the district website under required/public reporting and recommended that parents focus on the academic portions, campus improvement plans and the district's progress on House Bill 3 targets. A board member also asked the district to clarify what "accredited" status means; Nino described the state's accreditation rubric and noted that Texas had not updated district accreditation statuses for the year under discussion.

There were no public comments on the TAPR during the hearing. The hearing was opened and closed with no board action taken; the presentation served as the required public review of the document.
