The Indian Prairie Community Unit School District 204 Board of Education on Monday closed a public hearing and approved an amended fiscal 2024–25 budget that incorporates proceeds from the district’s successful November 2024 referendum and the initial bond sale completed in December 2024.
Administration told the board the referendum funded capital needs and therefore did not change the district’s operating budget for 2024–25; instead the amendment increases planned capital expenditures and records bond proceeds in the capital projects fund.
The amended budget shows the capital projects fund increasing planned capital expenditures from $13,000,000 to $26,000,000 for the fiscal year to reflect work that will be completed by June 30, 2025. Administration told the board the district recorded initial bond proceeds of just under $15,000,000 from the December 2024 sale and that those proceeds are restricted for capital projects. Administration also noted that because the first debt service payments are not due until after June 30, 2025, no debt-service expenditure amendment was required for this fiscal year.
The board voted to adopt the amended budget after the public hearing closed and with no public speakers having signed up on the amended budget. Board members also approved consent agenda items D–N and the gifts-and-donations report for the first semester of fiscal 2024–25.

Administration emphasized the referendum will not increase the tax rate charged for bond and interest, and that the amended budget reflects that commitment. The business office reported no public feedback on the posted budget and recommended adoption with “maximum transparency” to show how referendum capital work affects the district’s funds.
The board will continue to bring referendum-funded project approvals and bond-parameters items to future meetings and will post project updates on the district’s referendum website.
