Commission backs $200,000 aviation marketing grant and approves airport-related project task orders

The Colfax County Commission approved an aviation marketing grant agreement (project number AXX-25-02) that carries $200,000 in grant funds and a 10% county match equal to $22,200. Jeff Gilmer, representing the Village of Angel Fire, told the commission the village would "affirm the commitment to pay that" match while the county staff finalize marketing plan details and administrative responsibilities.

Commissioners also approved a professional services task order to design and prepare construction documents for installation of fuel storage and pump systems at the Miami Fire Station. County consultant Mike Provine summarized the design scope: two 20,000-gallon tanks to provide 40,000 gallons of allowed storage for truck refueling and emergency water storage. The task order fee for design, bidding assistance and limited construction administration was $23,721 before tax ($25,104.65 with tax). The commission voted to approve the task order and noted the project will use a State Fire Fund grant previously awarded to Miami.

Separately, the commission approved renewing an annual Vimeo hosting plan for archived meetings at a lower-cost tier after IT recommended retaining the videos while staff coordinate a retention schedule with state archives and options to download and hold copies internally. Staff said the videos span May 18, 2020, to April 12, 2022, and recommended a lower-cost renewal while exploring off-site storage and response-by-request access if litigation or records requests require them.

Commissioners asked staff to work with Angel Fire on the grant marketing plan and to ensure compliance with grant terms before implementation.
