Roswell accepts reimbursement agreement with True North 400 for Big Creek Greenway feasibility study

The Roswell City Council committee voted Feb. 25 to accept reimbursement from True North 400 for the city’s matching share of a Federal Highway Administration Reconnecting Communities grant and to authorize execution of the related agreement, approving budget amendment BA22162000‑02‑07‑25 for $500,000.
“True North 400 has actually agreed to reimburse the City up to $500,000 for that match, so the City will not be responsible for any of the match,” said Greg Littlefield, a city staff member presenting the item. The city had executed a $2,000,000 FHWA Reconnecting Communities grant for the Big Creek Greenway community connectivity project; the grant requires a 25% local match, which would be $500,000.
The feasibility study will evaluate potential alignments for the greenway. Littlefield showed a project map and said the study could affect Big Creek Parkway and potential crossings of Georgia 400, tying toward Holcomb Bridge Road and Warsaw Road in the study area. Council member Julie Hills asked whether the route shown on the map is flexible; Littlefield said the work is a feasibility study and will evaluate the best route rather than lock a single alignment.
Staff recommended executing the agreement with True North 400 and accepting the reimbursement; the motion, made by Council member David Johnson and seconded by Council member Sarah Beeson, passed unanimously.
