Council signs support letter for DWR, approves tax corrections and confirms two merit‑commission reappointments

Letter of support for Utah Division of Wildlife Resources
The council authorized its chair to sign a letter of support for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources’ planned purchase of a one‑acre inholding within the Current Creek Wildlife Management Area. Kate Richardson of the Division joined remotely and described the parcel as a one‑acre lot the agency is under contract to buy, with a hoped-for closing near March. The Division and staff said the acquisition clears an inholding that helps public access and reduces potential future disturbance to wildlife, noting mule deer, elk, sage‑grouse habitat and other species in the area.
Council member Spencer moved the authorization for the chair or manager to sign the letter; Council member Mark seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
Assessor adjustments
The Clerk-Auditor’s office presented two assessor adjustments that reflected factual errors discovered during property inspections. In the first case a large property with a market value listed at $8,506,000 was incorrectly shown as having a basement; inspection showed no basement and staff recommended a credit to taxable value in the amount of $8,254. In the second case a condominium unit had incorrect square footage in county records (listed as 692, actual 389), yielding a recommended credit of about $3,156. The council approved both adjustments unanimously.
Deputy Sheriff Merit Commission appointments
The council voted to reappoint Leo Lucy and Greg McPhee to the Deputy Sheriff Merit Commission. County manager said the appointments were made in consultation with the sheriff’s office; the council confirmed both candidates by unanimous vote.
