The Fauquier County Planning Commission conducted routine organizational business at its Jan. 16, 2025 work session, electing officers, adopting bylaws, appointing commissioners to committees and approving administrative items.
The commission welcomed new member Jody Warfield. The commission elected a chair (Mr. Meadows), a vice chair (Commissioner Matthew Smith) and confirmed Ms. Mead as secretary. The agenda and the bylaws were adopted by voice vote; staff noted there were no changes to the bylaws attached to the agenda. The commission approved the 2025 meeting schedule with a date change for June: the normal June meeting would fall on Juneteenth, so the commission adopted June 18 as the meeting date.
Committee appointments were made: a commissioner will continue on the Transportation Committee; Miss Roteman was appointed to serve on the Transportation Committee (motion and second recorded), and Commissioner Matthew Smith was appointed to the Architectural Review Board. The commission approved the November minutes; Ms. Warfield recused herself from that vote because she was not present for that meeting. The Board of Zoning Appeals agenda was canceled and noted for the record.
All motions reported in the transcript were carried by voice vote; the transcript records aye/nay calls but does not provide numerical roll‑call tallies for those administrative actions.
