Following a advertised public hearing on a lease extension for a communications facility at 8562 Dahlgren Road, the King George County Board of Supervisors authorized the county administrator and county attorney to execute an amended lease with Crown Castle.
County counsel summarized terms: the lease extends the term through multiple additional five‑year options (reaching to 2062 in the proposed form), raises the monthly rent to $4,000 beginning Jan. 2027 and applies a 3% yearly escalator thereafter. Counsel said Crown Castle agreed to remove a previously proposed right of first refusal on purchase of property, which county counsel had identified as problematic because a sale of the parcel with a standing long‑term lease could constrain county options.
No members of the public spoke during the advertised hearing. The vote authorized execution of the lease in a form acceptable to the county attorney; staff will finalize the document and file the executed agreement.
