James City Service Authority adopts new account fees, clarifies deposits

The James City Service Authority (JCSA) board adopted updated rules for new utility accounts after a brief public hearing and staff presentation.
Staff said the changes formalize current practice and clarify multiple fee lines in the JCSA code. Under the resolution the authority adopted, applicants for a new water-only or sewer-only account will pay a $20 application fee; applicants for a combined water-and-sewer account will pay $40. The resolution also specifies a $100 security deposit for water service and a $75 deposit for sewer service.
“This is mostly just a housekeeping issue,” a staff member told the board, adding that the amounts are consistent with current practice and that the resolution clarifies the deposit policy for the James City Service Authority. The board opened the public hearing and had no speakers. After a motion to approve, the board voted unanimously to adopt the resolution.
The board adjourned to a scheduled retreat and set its next meeting dates in public remarks following the vote.
