County accepts $50,000 Brownfield planning grant for former Ruthville School site

The Charles City County Board of Supervisors approved acceptance of a $50,000 grant to support environmental assessment and planning work at the former Ruthville School property on Glebe Lane.
Community Development staff said the grant will fund a phase‑1 environmental site assessment, universal-waste and suspected PCB equipment assessment, asbestos and hazardous-material specifications, stakeholder workshops, a concept plan and grant administration for the site. Staff recommended acceptance, noting the grantor provides funds up front and that the county had already committed and documented match work completed in support of the application.
Supervisor Mr. Hill moved to accept the award; the motion carried unanimously.
