The Wallsburg Town Council voted to issue building-permit approval letters for two recent planning commission recommendations at its Sept. 5 meeting.
Council accepted the planning commission’s recommendation that Craig Kaiser’s request to build a detached garage met the Walsburg Town Development Code’s setbacks and requirements. The council motion to accept the planning commission recommendation on the Kaiser permit was moved by Council member Terry Issel and seconded by Council member Mary Piscitelli; the council approved the motion by voice vote.
Separately the council accepted the planning commission recommendation for Mylett Adams’s greenhouse, a prefabricated kit structure larger than 200 square feet that requires a county permit and therefore needs the town’s approval letter. Council member Scott Larson moved the greenhouse approval and Terry Issel seconded; the council approved the motion by voice vote.
Both approvals were recorded as ministerial endorsements of the planning commission’s findings; councilors noted neither structure required water or power connections and that setbacks had been reviewed by the planning commission.
Why it matters: issuance of town approval letters enables applicants to proceed with county building permits and with construction where applicable.
Details: applicants were present or had previously paid review fees; staff will finalize and sign the letters once the town clerk is available.
