Council schedules cemetery weed spray after donated sod fails to establish

Staff reported that donated sod "didn't get watered as it should have" and that recent rain provided only limited recovery. The council said Buffalos (contractor) will return on Tuesday, Sept. 10 to spray the cemetery for thistle and weeds; staff warned that the spray will affect fresh flowers and that there should be "no water for 24 hours and no mowing for 48" after application.
Staff noted the Buffalos bid was about $500 less than a competing bid from Grid Iron. The council said it will monitor the results and take resident comments under advisement.
