Historic Preservation Division staff updated the board on grant projects and the upcoming Santa Fe Heritage Preservation Awards during the Feb. 11 meeting.
Nicole reported the 2023‑24 CLG grant supported a walking‑tour app in English and Spanish (work ongoing) and that a 2024‑25 CLG grant supports an Endangered Properties Program developed with Historic Santa Fe Foundation and Habitat for Humanity. Nicole said the endangered properties program has encountered hurdles: post‑rehab valuations in downtown exceed thresholds for some funding rules and property owners are reluctant to share financial information, making the model difficult to implement without retooling or changes to financing rules.
Staff also submitted a CLG application for the ASEKIS oral‑history project and plans a Cultural Properties Grant Fund application for broader support. Nicole said the previously approved Sheridan Avenue bus hub project funding lapsed and that the project is on hold; federal funding triggered the Section 106 streetscape study discussed earlier.
Amanda announced the 2025 Santa Fe Heritage Preservation Awards nomination period: nominations due March 31 for projects completed 2022–2024; the board will select award recipients on April 8 and the awards will be held in May 2025. Staff asked board members and the public for nominations.
