The City of Oklahoma City declared February 2025 as Allied Arts Month and recognized the local fundraising campaign Heart of the City at Thursday’s council meeting. Mayor David Holt read a proclamation lauding Allied Arts’ contributions; the council also adopted a resolution thanking city employees for their Heart of the City fundraising and voted unanimously to recognize Gerard Robinson of Embark as the February employee of the month.
The proclamation states Allied Arts has “provided nearly $95,000,000 to support Oklahoma City's arts agencies” since 1971. Jeff Starling, co-chair of Allied Arts’ campaign, thanked the council for the proclamation and noted the organization’s donor engagement. Laura Johnson, chair of Heart of the City, told the council the 2024 employee campaign raised $589,347, exceeding a $550,000 goal and credited department coordinators and loaned executives for organizing the effort. “This campaign would be nothing without the people who help with the city,” Johnson said.
Gerard Robinson, a full‑time bus operator with the public transportation and parking department, received a resolution commending his service and composure during an on‑duty traumatic event. The council adopted all three measures by unanimous vote.
