The Wappingers Central School District curriculum committee reported updates to two high‑school science courses and associated laboratory work in advance of revised Regents examinations scheduled for June.
Director of Math and Science (grades 7–12) Adam Panzer presented to the committee on course changes: the Living Environment course has been retitled “Life Science Biology” and Earth Science has been retitled “Earth and Space Science.” Panzer said there are changes to the laboratory components to match the revised Regents expectations and described professional development the district has provided to prepare teachers for the new lab tasks and exams.
The curriculum committee met on Feb. 19; committee members in attendance included Trustee Meggitt and Trustee Kellen. The committee reported the district will offer the revised Regents examinations in June and has been training teachers to align instruction with the updated lab and assessment requirements.
