Superintendent Tom Larkin told the board that the district’s engineering and manufacturing technology center at Roosevelt High School is almost complete and that the project was built using 100% state grant funds, with no local taxpayer dollars. The superintendent announced a ribbon cutting set for Thursday, April 24 at 12:30 p.m., and said the district expects representation from Columbus and possibly the governor’s office.
Larkin said the project faces a few minor remaining items, some related to supply-chain delays, but staff are ready to open the facility for instruction. He named Brian Bactel from Columbus as a likely representative connected to the CTE construction grant that funded the project.
In a separate item in the superintendent’s update, Larkin presented a quarterly social media report provided by the district’s vendor Social Schools for EDU. He said the district’s Facebook account has over 3,300 followers and the Instagram account more than 2,000 followers. For the December reporting period the district recorded more than 74,000 interactions on Facebook — higher than other districts the vendor serves during that period.
Board members received the reports as informational updates; no formal votes were required on the CTE center presentation or the social media report.
