Kent Fire chief shows Roosevelt-themed design for new $940,000 pumper, cites school ties

The chief said the vehicle will carry the logo on both sides when it arrives.
Samuels said the truck’s purchase price is $940,000 and noted that fire apparatus are typically purchased once every 20 to 25 years. He emphasized that several of the department’s full-time firefighter paramedics are graduates of the district’s athletic healthcare program and other local programs, and said the logo reflects pride in the community and in the local schools.
Superintendent Tom Larkin was cited in the presentation as having reviewed the design and did not object to its use; Samuels said the fire department does not plan to sell the logo or produce it for profit. The chief said the truck is expected to be delivered in April.
No formal board vote was recorded on the logo design at the meeting; the discussion was presented as an informational item and an expression of partnership between the district and the fire department.
